University of Warsaw awarded in the “Open University” ranking

The University of Warsaw ranked first among public universities in the “Open University” ranking, which recognises higher education institutions that actively foster an accessible, safe and welcoming environment for their academic communities. The ranking committee acknowledged the University’s efforts to promote equal treatment, prevent discrimination, and strengthen a culture of respect, inclusion and belonging. In the overall classification, which included both public and non-public higher education institutions, the University of Warsaw placed second.

The University’s high ranking reflects a wide range of initiatives, including the development of support systems for students and staff, measures to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities, programmes promoting mental well-being, and policies advancing equality and diversity. Particular recognition was given to procedures for addressing cases of unequal treatment and to educational and support initiatives available to members of the academic community.

This distinction confirms the University of Warsaw’s long-term commitment to building an open academic environment in which all members of the community can develop their potential regardless of their background, personal characteristics or life circumstances. It also demonstrates that the University’s efforts to promote equality, accessibility and inclusion are recognised beyond the institution itself.

These activities are implemented by numerous University units, including the Academic Ombuds Team, the Equality Team, the Psychological Support Centre, and the Office for Persons with Disabilities, which work together to develop solutions that support a safe, inclusive and supportive academic community.
